The August 2008 announcement of the construction of a $1billion Dubai Wellness City along the Dubai Creek as phase two of the $5billion Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is indicative of the resolute intention with which the UAE is working to establish itself as one of the world’s most important medical and wellness tourism destinations.

UAE consists of seven emirates, i.e. Umm al-Quwain, Abu Dhabi, Ras al-Khaimah, Dubai, Sharih, Fujairah and Dubai stretching for more than 650 kilometers along the southern shore of the Persian Gulf.

Abu Dhabi is the federal capital of the UAE. This is widely known as a beautiful garden city that consists of green parks, boulevards, and water fountains. Another emirate is Dubai—which is considered as the City of Gold and The City that Cares. This place is the venue for a lot of major world-class tournaments.

Sharjah on the other hand, is known as the City of Knowledge. This 3rd emirate is widely known for its impressive and artistically created mosques, and souhks. Ajman is the smallest emirate of the UAE. You can find a lot of rural farms in this area and a traditionally designed souhks.

If you are looking for breathtaking mountain sceneries, then the Fujairah is the emirate to go to. This place is also known as the central resort area of UAE. Sailing and bird watching can be done in Umm Al Quwain. This emirate is famous for its natural oasis and agricultural areas.

Last but not the least is Ras Al Khaimah, which means head of the tent, is one of UAE’s spots of rare beauty due to it kaleidoscope of mountains, sea and desert scenarios. You can also find some of the most interesting archaeological sites here. Some of these include the ever famous Queen of Sheba’s Palace that can be found in the northern part of Shimal.

The Climate

There are two major climates in UAE: hot and dry. November to April are the best times to visit United Arab Emirates, since this is the time when the weather is at its coolest. The humidity from May to September is fairly high, commonly reaching 40 degrees C or 105 degrees F in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Economy

For the longest time, UAE has been known as a country rich in natural gas and oil. These things have made them gain respect around the globe as one of the top producers of oil for export. They could not have done that without the government funding from the United Nation’s direct investment funding in the 1970s. Just this year, the U.S Energy Information Administration has published a report on the world’s biggest oil reserves. UAE is among the top 15 countries, ranking 5th with its 13.0 billion tonnes or 97.8 billion barrels of oil reserves. Not only that, UAE also ranks 3rd in the world’s top 15 oil exporters in 2007.

Tourism

UAE is a 21st century nation combining the cultures of liberal West and conservative Islam—that is what UAE is known for today. UAE may be a small area (82,880 km2), but it has firmly established itself as an acclaimed tourist destination where the Western consumerism meets the traditional Bedouin lifestyle. Each of the 7 emirates have beautiful tourist attractions—rugged mountains, silent desert, lively cities, archaeological sites, and so much more! Experience recreation like you have never experienced before!

It is a fact that a majority of UAE’s land area is desert, covering four-fifths of the area. However, this country is made of contrasting landscapes—precipitous rocky mountains, awe-inspiring dunes, rich oases, and fertile plains. These make this country a suitable place for tourist destination. The right ingredients of possible tourist attractions as made the government of UAE to spend a great deal of investment on making it one of the world’s tourist destinations.

To be able to manage the tourism work in UAE, the government has created a statutory body in 2004. This has been known as the ADTA or Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. Its prime responsibility is to promote and develop the tourism industry of the 7 emirates of UAE. The ADTA is focusing its attention on the following priority areas, namely, regulation, licensing and classification, destination marketing, as well as the development of world class tourism infrastructure and products.

Medical & Wellness Tourism

In its attempt to diversify its tourism offering the ADTA, the Federal Authorities of the seven Emirates and the local business sector has embarked in recent years on several strategic infrastructure and services development investments to position the country as a major international medical and wellness tourism hub.  These include the multi-billion dollar Dubai Medi-City and its sister Dubai Wellness City projects.
